and Academic Technology Services. “Alibris for Libraries is our
vendor of choice for replacement books, whether they are rare, out of print or
just a few years old. Requests for replacements come in batches,
directly from librarians or automatically through our locally created Library
Collection Replacement Management program, which flags replacement items
based on parameters we’ve established." “We use Alibris for batch orders
as well as title by title ordering. For batch orders we send lists of up to
100 titles with bibliographic information; Alibris
manages the lists and finds the titles for us. Our Alibris
profile defines the minimum quality we’ll accept, price range, preference for
newest edition available, and timeframe for delivery. We allow six
months to a year, to give Alibris time to match our
titles. We appreciate the way they manage our orders and give us the
opportunity to be flexible in making decisions on price and other
variables." “We also use Alibris for price
evaluation of items in our collection. The information in the Alibris database helps us create a comprehensive,
accurate record of the value of our collections, especially special
collections." Benefits of Alibris “Alibris is a well established
vendor with whom we can maintain an account. We like that they
collaborate with other sellers including Amazon.com
and BookFinder.com, giving
us one place to search and order. The information we need, including
publication date, is readily visible so we can quickly identify if the title
is the right one." “We see Alibris continually
improving and expanding their services to libraries. We understand these
library-specific services come at a price that is sometimes higher than other
sources that might provide the title but not the service. As in all
things, you get what you pay for." “We are very satisfied with Alibris’
service. We don’t have the staff to do this type of ordering so Alibris really saves us time. They are very
responsive and take good care of us. We have a good mutual future and look
forward to continuing to work with them.” |
